The annual Hindu World Prayer Focus is calling Christians and churches worldwide to take 15 days to learn about and pray for our world’s over one billion Hindu friends. That period also encompasses the significant Hindu Festival of Light (Diwali).

The informative prayer guide booklets will help Christians to know how to pray for the people(s) growing up within this major and very diverse world religion. Diwali (or Deepawali) is known as the Festival of Lights, and is one of the most important annual celebrations for Hindus, lasting about 4-5 days.

While (similar to Christmas celebrations in the Christian world) it has historical and religious roots, Hindus celebrate it by lighting and displaying rows of small oil lamps, participating in family gatherings, consuming special sweets and watching fireworks. It is not our intention with this prayer focus to disparage India or the Hindu religion in any way.

We recognize that both are far too complex and too full of great traditions to simply or easily condense, explain or take lightly within a mere booklet. At the same time, as Christians, we long that all the world’s people(s) will have an opportunity to freely see, hear and understand the grace of God incarnated in Jesus Christ. To this end we inform ourselves, pray for and want to support opportunities to make that grace known also within the world’s Indian and Hindu communities. Fire on the Altar 2022 (Herrnhut)
April 18 – Oct 15 2022
www.jh-herrnhut.de/events/fire-on-the-altar-2022/

This guide builds on Jesus’ promise in Matthew 24:14 that the good news of His kingdom will be proclaimed to every ethne—every people group—before he returns at the end of this age.

Given the rapid increase of global population, the only way God’s kingdom is currently growing faster than population increase is through church-planting movements (CPMs)—a rapid multiplication of disciples making disciples, and churches reproducing churches, to four or more generations.

Part of God’s biblical strategy for starting (catalyzing) such movements is reaching households and groups (note the Greek word oikos used for example in Luke 10:5,7; Acts 16:15,31; Col 4:15) rather than just reaching individuals.

This weekly prayer guide includes a theme with related Bible passages and prayer requests aiming toward engagement of every people and place with a CPM catalyst team.

Over the 52 weeks, we will pray for disciple-makers (those who help others become obedient followers of Jesus), movement catalysts (those God has called to pursue initiating new movements) and movement leaders (those God is using to lead existing movements).

Movement catalysts may come from within a given culture (inside catalysts) or from a different culture (outside catalysts). May the Lord guide and use all of our prayers to advance his kingdom among those still unreached.

The material in this prayer guide was produced by the 24:14 Coalition (2414now.net) in cooperation with Finishing the Task.

An ancient pattern of worship is re-emerging on the earth.

In Acts 15, the apostle James quotes the book of Amos, declaring that the “tabernacle of David” will be restored, and the people of the earth will respond to God’s gracious invitation into fellowship with Him.

David’s tabernacle is being restored in our day by the enthronement of God upon the praises of His people through worship!

The Lord is birthing a global day-and-night worship and prayer movement that will lead to a historic harvest of souls entering His Kingdom.

Worship creates encounter with the living God and His presence, bringing heaven to earth: wholeness and transformation to individuals, to cities, and to nations.

You will discover your original purpose and eternal destiny as you step into David’s Tabernacle.

IPC Oct 2021 17bMatthew Lilley (pictured right) is an author, worship leader, intercessor and Bible teacher with a passion for God’s presence, extravagant worship & prayer and a desire to see cities transformed by Jesus. He has helped launch two houses of prayer in North Carolina and has also served in national leadership roles in worship & prayer movements such as Burn 24-7 and Awaken the Dawn.

'God described David as a 'man after his own heart.' David's Tabernacle helps you and me discover what was IN David's heart that moved the heart of God!  This is one of the best books written on the subject!  I highly recommend it!'  Dr Jason Hubbard - Director, International Prayer Council

The room was full of God's presence...a feeling of God's nearness impossible to describe. The whole audience began to pray. ...It was not many, but one, born of one Spirit, lifted to one Father above. ...God came to us in Pyeng Yang that night. ...Man after man would arise, confess his sin, break down and weep. Some threw themselves full length on the floor; hundreds stood with arms outstretched towards heaven. Every man forgot each other. Each was face to face with God. Everywhere the story was told the same Spirit flowed forth and spread. All through the city men were going from house to house, confessing to individuals they had injured, returning stolen property and money. The whole city was stirred. "This account of the 1907, Pyeng Yang revival in Korea, is not an anomaly. Not even close. Such revivals of prayer and Spirit are our history and heritage and they continue to pulse us forward in the fulfilment of the Great Commission, even today.

These revivals have brought entire cities to their knees and as they have swept across the universities they have left up to half the student body converted in their wake. This book is about such prayer, and such revivals, and preparing ourselves for another mighty movement of God's Spirit: a movement I believe we can, and will see, if we will meet God's criteria for revival and awakening."

We are pleased to bring you this September 2021 edition of IPC Connections.

Our Editorial this month is a response to the tough question of how to pray for the persecuted.   We know that many believers all around the world are being discriminated against and persecuted due to their faith.  Among others, the situation in Afghanistan has shocked many, as overnight, the risks facing the people of the Christian Church there have escalated.  Dr Jason Hubbard reminds us how we can respond in prayer for those facing persecution.  He illustrates his points with a moving worship song and a video of the emotive prayers of young children in India.

Our 30 Days of Prayer for Afghanistan continues. More info here.

This month, a number of partnered prayer and worship events are taking place under the banner of Trumpets to Tabernacles – a series of events with the theme of RETURN | REVERE | REVIVE.   We would encourage our contacts and networks to watch the 50-minute Trumpets to Tabernacles broadcast which premieres at 9.30pm Jerusalem time on 7th September and can be watched online here.  Further details follow below.

Thank you for continuing to partner with us in mobilising and informing united prayer across nations, denominations, movements, and generations for the fulfilment of the Great Commission.

May we express grateful thanks to Andy Page and the IPC Editorial Team who put this email together each month.

Every blessing,

Jason Hubbard - Director

Praying for the Persecuted…

We know that many around the world today are persecuted for the sake of the Gospel. Many have given their lives for the sake of the Gospel and we know this will continue to the end of the age!  The estimates today are that more than 340 million Christians are suffering high levels of persecution and discrimination for their faith.

Places like North Korea, China, Nigeria, and many places throughout the Middle East, including the current crisis in Afghanistan. Our hearts are breaking for our precious brothers and sisters and their families.

I have often struggled over the years with how I can be involved, and help to serve them? I read verses like Hebrews 13:3 and wrestle with how to respond?

“Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body”

I think one of the most powerful ways is to pray and intercede on their behalf. As Brother Andrew from Open Doors writes, “Our prayers can go where we cannot. There are no borders, no prison walls, no doors that are closed to us when we pray.”- Brother Andrew

IPC Sept 2021 01bJesus was clear that we would experience tribulation and trouble in this world but to take heart that He has overcome!  In Paul’s last letter, the letter of 2 Timothy, he shares with his beloved disciple Timothy his last words about life and ministry to encourage him, “my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. 12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted…” (2 Timothy 3:11-12).

We know in many cases God miraculously sets free believers from their imprisonment or severe persecution.  At other times he allows his saints like Stephen to be martyred and to give their lives for the message of the Gospel. In either case, God calls us the church to pray and intercede on their behalf!

I have been inspired by the story of Andrew Brunson, an American pastor who was imprisoned a few years ago in Turkey. After 11 months he was given 3 life sentences and assigned to solitary confinement. At a place of despair with little to no hope, he wrote a powerful song, called Worthy of my All. He would sing this song every day and it would strengthen him to keep persevering to the end!  Here is a link to the song and words below …

Worthy of my All - Lyrics and Chords

Let’s ask the Lord for his burden and heart for those who are suffering today. We want to grow in Love-motivated prayer, “a love-motivated plea, to a love-giving God, on behalf of love-needy persons who live in a love-starved world.” May God give us his compassion and even the ‘gift of tears’ as we enter into the pain of those are suffering today in the place of prayer.

IPC Sept 2021 01cWe have worked together for many years with the Royal Kids in India. They have adopted thousands of children, many who had been left to die on the streets or in the garbage slums. Many include the children of temple prostitutes.

These children are growing day by day in their relationship with their ‘Abba Father,’ and praying for people around the world.  Here is a short video clip, where they are praying for the suffering saints in Afghanistan.

To connect with key prayer points for our persecuted ‘family’ we recommend Voice of the Martyrs The Voice of the Martyrs (www.persecution.com) or Open Doors, Serving Persecuted Christian's Worldwide they have both put together excellent prayer guides and you can sign up to be a prayer partner, receiving first-hand prayer points and testimonies from around the world!

3 Prayer Points:

Pray: that God would strengthen Jesus Followers with his grace. Pray through Ephesians 3:14-21 on their behalf.

Pray: for ‘Open Doors’ for the sharing of the Gospel in the midst of their persecution. Pray for these workers to be ‘filled with the Spirit and speak the Word of God boldy!’  (Ephesians 6:18-21, Acts 4:29-31).

Pray: for the families of those who have lost loved ones through martyrdom or imprisonment (Galatians 6:2).

May we follow those that have gone before us, ‘denying ourselves, taking up our cross daily, and following Jesus.’ (Luke 9:23).
